Music Theory/Sight-Reading/Ear Training

· Embrace the history of traditional African-American music (i.e. spirituals)
Vocal and Instrumental Lessons
· Provide vocal training and instrument lessons both in individual and group settings
Piano Labs
· Basic keyboarding principals taught to all non-piano majors
HGMAA Chorus
· All students sing in the HGMAA chorus
Musical Clinics/Workshops
· Invite highly acclaimed guest musicians to conduct workshops on various instruments for students
Field Trips to Performances
· Take students on field trips to outside performances and local music colleges for tours
Student Recitals
· Have students perform at the end of the semester before a live audience
